projekt0708 digitizes HR management for the international retailer Gebr. Heinemann

projekt0708 supports travel retailer Gebr. Heinemann in the global standardization of its HR processes with SAP® SuccessFactors® Human Experience Management Suite

As one of the most essential wholesalers, retailers, and the only family-owned company in global travel retail, Gebr. Heinemann SE & Co. KG operates Duty Free and Travel Value Shops, fashion label boutiques under license, and concept stores at airports, border crossings, and on cruise ships at more than 100 international locations.

Following the motto “HR - Partner for Global Success,” the company management decided to replace the predominantly regional control in HR management with a global strategy several years ago. The core element of the extensive restructuring was to replace the decentralized organization of HR processes with a digital global standard. The main objective was to create process transparency, establish digital processes, and provide and strategically use key performance indicators.

Those responsible decided on the cloud-based SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management (HXM) Suite. Alongside this, projekt0708 was chosen as an experienced and certified implementation partner. Together, the companies decided on a best practice solution based on a global template approach and an introduction at the different locations in separate project phases.

The project launch started in fall 2018. The SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central solutions were implemented during the first phase at the company’s locations in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia. In the second project phase, the gathered experience was used for the implementation at the company headquarters in Germany and in Austria.

More than 40 HR processes have been digitized so far, which is particularly noticeable in an increase in transparency. The aim is to work with projekt0708 to connect 100% of the company’s HR processes to SAP SuccessFactors solutions by 2024, which will also be supplemented with additional modules starting in 2022.

“With such a system, it continues to be a new experience for us to rely completely on a fully cloud based solution,” explains Alexander Messer. “It was particularly important to us to have a partner on board that also takes care of the operating and support issues in the long-term so that we only have to do the steering.”
