OPTIMIZING AND ACCELERATING PROCESSES WERE OUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVES.

Service Portfolio
Since its foundation in 1929, the Max Bögl Group has continuously developed from a construction company to an internationally operating technology and service company. Today the activities cover all areas and degrees of difficulty of modern construction. At more than 35 locations worldwide, 6,000 highly qualified employees realise not only pioneering products but also tailor-made individual solutions up to complex overall solutions from a single source.

In order to successfully place themselves in the battle for skilled workers and to attract the next generation, companies must present themselves in a modern and open way during the application process. Anyone, who does not present the jobs attractively on their own website, relies solely on paper application or only informs applicants about their application status after months, quickly has a outdated image and, in consequence, loses talent to the competition. This was also recognized by the Max Bögl Group, and they were looking for a solution that would optimize their processes in HR management. The aim was to reduce the administrative effort and create a visually appealing career platform, which is also compatible with mobile devices and meets the data protection requirements.

PROGRESS IS BUILT OF IDEAS

Today the Max Bögl Group can proudly refer to 85 years of company history. With 35 locations in Germany and abroad, more than 6000 employees, about 300 trainees and an annual turnover of about 1.5 billion euros, the company is one of the national top 5 in its industry.

ACCELERATING PROCESSES

„BY PROVIDING AN APPEALING AND INTUITIVELY USABLE CAREER PORTAL, WE ALSO WANT TO ATTRACT APPLICANTS WHO ARE USING SMARTPHONE, TABLET, ETC.”
STEFAN GRAD, APPLICATION MANAGER SAP E-RECRUITING

"Optimizing and accelerating the processes were our primary goals," recalls Michael Mederer, Project Manager SAP E-Recruiting at Max Bögl. However, it was not only necessary to improve the processes in candidate management, but also to increase the company's attractiveness for potential candidates and to optimize communication. "By providing an appealing and intuitively usable career portal, we also want to attract applicants who are using smartphones, tablets etc. "The candidates and Max Bögl can thus contact each other outside their fixed PC workstations, anywhere and at any time", explains Stefan Grad, responsible for personnel processes at Max Bögl. In terms of the product´s visual design, Max Bögl also had the most precise ideas: The company wanted a user interface close to the SAP standard - matching the company's corporate identity.

STATE OF THE ART AND FLEXIBLE

Every month, more than 500 potential employees compete for numerous posted jobs at the construction company.

In recent years, it has become all too clear that the previous form of application management was no longer up to date and could no longer cope with the large number of incoming applications.

The SAP solution provides the basic framework, but can be flexibly adapted to meet individual requirements. The goal was to create a perfectly running and clearly structured career portal for potential candidates.

PROFICIENCY AND SYMPATHY

"We were particularly impressed by the flexible consulting service. The consultants listened to us carefully and only recommended what we really needed". Moreover, the personal level was harmonious. "The mixture of expertise, creativity and sympathy has ultimately led the project to success."

In a joint effort, a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and processes at the internationally active construction company was conducted and the project was then planned down to the last detail. "A good third of the implementation phase was reserved for planning and conceptual design. Within four months, we had identified the current situation and developed a target process. The subsequent implementation itself went smoothly - the long planning phase proved to be efficient," says Mederer.

In order to involve all recruiters, two training sessions were held, which Stefan Grad conducted: "In a basic training session, we went through the entire application process from receiving the requisition to hiring, also taking into account any divergences from the targeted process. Furthermore, the company's managers were trained in the application. In this way, all those, who will later come into contact with the SAP solution, were integrated into the project at an early stage and gained confidence in using the new software.

The main benefit of the conversion of internal processes and the new career portal will primarily be for the applicants. They will be able to quickly gain an overview of the jobs currently advertised in the careers section of the construction group's homepage. Once a suitable position has been found, an application can be sent off within a few clicks. "The candidate cockpit makes it much easier for applicants to manage their documents," explains Stefan Grad happily. Only a few months after the implementation, an increase in online applications can already be observed.

In order to guide the candidates more effectively through the entire application process, the recruiters have thoroughly studied the system. Reduced process times and standardized application processing enabled the candidates to view and change their application at any time. The transparent procedure thus not only simplifies work in HR - applicants also benefit from standardized processes.

Meanwhile their career portal has become a flagship for Max Bögl. Applicants can now click their way through an attractive interface designed in Max Bögl's corporate design, while the SAP solution ensures optimal process support in the background.

By using SAP E-Recruiting, Max Bögl now has a sustainable solution that not only optimizes internal processes, but also conveys a modern employer image to external stakeholders.
